Optus

The Optus Tennis Challenge is my favorite distraction lately. ;)  I would advise using a mouse, it gets a little difficult with a touchpad.

Coke Commercial

July 26th, 2006

This Coke commercial is brilliant.  I don’t know if I just don’t watch enough TV but I am quite sure that I would remember it if I saw it before.

July

I thought I would write a life update. ;) I can’t believe it has been a month since I wrote. The conference(s) finished last weekend, and while everything went relatively perfectly I am still quite exhausted. The weekend itself was pure bliss, including three bottles of Grey Goose and way too much trouble.

The conference(s) all went really well, we had record numbers of attendees and all of the changes we implemented this year worked perfectly. In particular the outsourcing of audio and wireless really helped a lot, as well as having models working the registration and information booths. ;) I didn’t actually get to attend any talks this year, but the feedback we received was all positive. I did attend the social events at least, in particular the GCC closing party where we opened a bottle of Dow’s 1970 port. I couldn’t drink anything after that, I didn’t want to ruin the experience. ;)I will be *winding down* for the next few weeks while I handle the wrap up. I always forget how physically and mentally exhausted I am after the conference(s). I suppose it isn’t that difficult to comprehend considering nine months of planning all comes together in one week (and three simultaneous events). I imagine things will be back to normal next week.

My summer schedule is totally changed though. I was invited to go speak at a Linux conference in Tokyo, Japan in September so I will have to spend some time preparing the presentation, and also deciding how long I will go there. I might as well make the best out of the opportunity so I figure I will spend at least three weeks there. I had thought about visiting as many countries as possible, but I think I will just stay *local* for the extent of my trip unless I stumble upon an attractive girl(s) at a hostel and opt to travel somewhere with her. ;) Who knows…

I can’t wait until the weekend. I haven’t had much opportunity to drive my car at all and I will be taking a bit of a road trip with DramaGirl. ;) It will be nice to have a social life (again). I forgot how closed off my life gets when I focus on work. I did go to the movies last night at least, although I probably could have waited for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest on DVD. It was enjoyable but relatively pointless besides providing a nice distraction for two hours.
Laundry.
