I shaved my beard off tonight. Well, I left a goatee. It is all part of my planning for my sister’s wedding in two weeks. It would appear that my family doesn’t agree that my 24/7 5 o’clock shadow isn’t exactly satisfactory for wedding photographs. :) It doesn’t look as bad as I expected, but I prefer the rough look (haha).
It seems like everyone I know is getting married and/or engaged this month (*cough* ;). Congratulations Khabarakh and Nix, who got engaged today. I think it must be something in the water. ;) Anyways, DG is working all weekend so I have mostly been lounging here, playing WoW, and looking for any excuse not to go outside since it is -26. Sigh* Wow. 3:50am. I have to get Bodhi at the airport at 9:00am. Hopefully I don’t sleep through it.

I got this from a forum post today. Hilarious.
“I get a call this morning from a friend of mine, and after our conversation I hang up the phone (at least I thought I did). I proceeded to have a conversation with my cat…”
“So, what are your plans for today?”
~ MEOW!
“Really? That sounds exciting!”
~ MEOW!
“It sure is cold outside!”
~ MEOW!
“The conversation lasted a while, until the receiver started buzzing telling me that I didn’t hang up. Oops. So I go and check my email and my friend had already sent a detailed email about it to everyone I know!” The Subject: Cat Whisperer.”
“I can’t be the only one who talks to their pets…right?”
It is *so* true. I didn’t really think about how often I talk to my cats until I read that. It would probably seem a little strange to people who don’t have pets.

This article on The Onion is a perfect reminder of why I don’t take the bus. :) You almost always end up with someone who decides that they want to tell you their life story when all you want to do is sleep. “Those are some nice headphones you got there. I used to have some just like that.” Lol.

Wow. I had no clue there was a hidden tunnel underneath Niagara Falls. Supervillain hideout indeed.

Double Maze is wickedly addictive and borderline impossible. :) You basically have to move the balls around and get to the stars without having one of the balls *fall* into a black space.

We went to see Deep Sea on IMAX tonight. I couldn’t remember the last time I watched a film on IMAX and neither could DG so we were both pretty surprised by the massive screen. The film was really enjoyable, if you find a “documentary” on undersea creatures interesting. :) Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet were the narrators so that was pretty cool, and the music was really fitting, especially the scene(s) with the turtles. It was similar to the music from Finding Nemo.
I think we’re just watching Anime tonight and drinking smoothies. :) Well, “I” am watching anime, and DG is playing Nintendo DS.

I got a package from my friend Rob today. He mailed me a CD with all of the photos my friends took while we climbed Mt. Fuji. For those of you who read my JPNBlog you’ll remember that I only met up with them at the 7th stage, so it was interesting to see their pictures from the approach. There was a picture of us at the summit that I totally forgot about, and one of us walking out after we finished the descent that I didn’t know he took (that’s me in the middle, haha). I *really* want to go back. There are a plethora of other countries that I am sure we could visit, but I can’t stop thinking about it. It was my first vacation in quite a while, so I suppose that I might feel the same after we go somewhere else. Who knows. I am sure I could convince DG we should go.

I would have to say that I am feeling quite positive about 2007. I suppose it all started with Japan but all of the changes I made to my life (in particular my social life) are going to make for an enjoyable year. It seems like I finally discovered a balance between work and life where I enjoy every aspect of my day, and I am making every effort to organize my day so that I don’t forget my schedule.
I *love* playing paintball too. It is the perfect way to relax because you can’t focus on anything but the fact that paintballs are flying at you at 200mph. We are also going to start going to the art gallery, and the plethora of museums in the city. You wouldn’t consider O. to be a “cultural” city at first glance, but being the capital city, it has a lot of things to do if you actually choose to walk outside your door. If only it wasn’t -25°.
I am also making every effort to keep in touch with people. I will admit that historically I haven’t exactly been successful at writing email or making telephone calls but I certainly hope that will change this year. I imagine it has to do with my thoughts on the nature of relationships, but I will be the first to admit that life with DG has changed the way I look at almost every aspect of my life.

While architecture in Russia ranges from block buildings to breathtaking palaces, you might be surprised to see the roadside bus stops spread throughout the country. I like #12.

I haven’t seen Borat, but The New Yorker has a comical article on an immigrant student at Yale who could be considered a modern day Borat.
