I don’t know anyone who hasn’t experienced some issue with customer service. I was reading an article by a San Jose Mercury reporter about his experiences when I came across this “comment” about one individual experience with SBC/Yahoo. It is *so* funny. I didn’t want to make you search through the comments so I posted it here.

Eshu recently launched the Paper Crane Project on Flickr. I planned on posting about this a few weeks ago but I didn’t get the chance to write (as you probably noticed from the abundance of posts) until today. The digest version is that you send her your address, she sends you a paper crane in the mail, you take a picture of the paper crane, you send it back, and she posts the picture. There will only be 1,000 so make sure you email her.

I can’t believe how quickly winter went by (ignoring the fact that it was snowing yesterday). It is almost time for the cycling season to begin. :) Our experiment in budgeting 101 is going nicely, although I have concluded that there is some cosmic entity that somehow manages to find something every month that needs to be replaced, or bought, or upgraded. It is *so* frustrating. Last month it was extending the AppleCare warranty on my Macbook and iMac. I won’t argue the fact that the moment the 1yr ended something would break and it would cost us 3x more to get it fixed, but it still wasn’t something that we had included in the list of things to pay for. ;) This month (last week in fact) the Sony receiver broke. Which isn’t amusing on two levels because a. We have to get it fixed, and b. We can’t watch movies until we get it back. :( You have to laugh because I am positive that we are not the only people who have experienced this phenomenon.
With the above exception, life is good. Work is fantastic, and we will hopefully know when/where we’re getting married in the next few weeks. It all depends on L. of course (just say no! :P) but I know it will all work out. We actually went to D.G.’s parents place on Sunday for Easter where I got to meet the rest of the family. It was one of those “we’ve heard so much about you…” situations but it was actually really fun even though I was so doped up on cold medication like everyone else who seems to have caught some type of flu lately.
You will also be shocked to know that I have cut my DVD purchases by 1/5 recently (waits for the collective *gasp*). I am just as surprised as you are. I think it started after I realized that I have at least 100 movies that I own but haven’t watched yet. Oops. :) I can’t remember if I mentioned, although I’m sure I did, but Blockbuster has an excellent deal on previously viewed movies. You buy two and get the third DVD free. I think we got 6 DVDs last month for $45.00. You can’t go wrong there.
Life
I don’t consider myself a fan of social networking sites. I have been bombarded recently though to join the millions of people who already signed up on Facebook. It is basically MySpace (at least IMHO) without the music. Facebook only recently allowed access to its site to the public after originally only allowing students. I know a LOT of people who use Facebook as their blog, post pictures there, and manage their social lives. You could argue that it isn’t any different than keeping a blog (like this one for instance) except that there isn’t information on a LOT of people in one place. I am a huge fan of conspiracy theories, so needless to say that when someone emailed me a link to this video I knew I had to share it with the rest of you. Enjoy.

“John McClane (Willis) takes on an Internet-based terrorist organization who is systematically shutting down the United States.” I don’t think anything more needs to be said about the upcoming Live Free or Die Hard. You can check out the trailer on Yahoo. Ironically enough it stars the “Mac” guy from the commercials (haha).
Movies
I own a Mac (in fact two) but I wouldn’t consider myself a “Mac User”. TBPU has a great rant about Mac users and why he wouldn’t become one. Make sure you check out the videos. /Edit: I stumbled upon a similar rant on the Guardian in the UK. “…Macs, which are apparently better at “fun stuff”. How insecure is that? And how inaccurate? Better at “fun stuff”, my arse. The only way to have fun with a Mac is to poke its insufferable owner in the eye.”
Technology
I don’t watch MadTV (not actually sure if we get it in Canada) but the iRack skit is hilarious, albeit politically motivated. I suppose it depends where you stand on the whole Iraq situation but I thought it was quite amusing, especially when you consider the recent news about the Apple iPod that stopped a bullet. It didn’t actually stop the bullet (the armor did) but it is still interesting to see what happened to the hardware after being shot by an AK-47 round.
