We’re in N.S. visiting the family. We drove here last week (15hrs) and are here until Sunday. I wouldn’t exactly say that I am enthusiastic about driving home, but it was nice to get away from the city for a week before getting back to work (and school) in Sept. We’ve had an endless week of dinners, and desserts, late nights, visits with grandparents, our parents meeting one another, paintball, bonfires, beaches, and river ‘drifting’. The shopping is also fantastic, although anywhere would be better than O.
We’re going to have teppanyaki tomorrow night. It will be a nice way to end the week. D.G. just notified me that it is almost midnight. I suppose it is Happy Birthday to me.
Life
I planned on writing quite a while ago but I suppose I didn’t feel like spending time online since I already missed most of the summer with all of the time I spent indoors during the conference(s). I suppose I am officially on vacation (cheer) but as always it is taking me a while to get used to going from 100hr weeks to 0hr weeks. The conference(s) went really well though and I got to see all of my friends from Japan and everywhere else so it was nice.
D.G. is back at home every night which is a nice change. It didn’t make sense for her to be here while I was working 24/7, so we’re spending a lot of time together. I’ve actually been working with her and the autistic kids this week too, which has been an experience in patience to say the least. We went to the musée canadien de la nature today with 12 kids. Hilarious. We came home and collapsed, although it could have been spending the afternoon in the sun as much as keeping track of the kids all day.
There isn’t a lot else going on lately. The wedding is basically all arranged, so that’s good. We also have a few road trips planned this summer. I think we’re going to need to get a GPS though. I kinda want to get one that is combined with a DVD player, but considering we have the ability to play movies on just about everything it probably isn’t a sensible choice. Not that I am usually about sensible. It’ll be cool to be able to camp out in the car though, it’s practically a tent except there’s power, and no bugs.
I haven’t been gaming at all lately, although that seems to be a trend across the board. It is fairly typical for summer but I am sure that I will most likely want a new distraction come September. I did get movies playing on my Nokia 5300 which is most likely useless but you never know when you’ll want to watch 300 on your cell phone.
I suppose that’s all for tonight. Unplugged.
Life
I can’t believe this. I knew that Walmart was relatively sketchy but chemical burns from flip flops is still quite remarkable. I would probably have scars forever if that happened to me, I would be scratching every day.
Medicine
Wow. I thought our aquarium was pretty nifty until I saw these pictures of aquariums. They’re wicked. I think a redesign is required, although once the piano arrives I’m not exactly sure where the aquarium will be going.
Nature
Hell yes. I don’t care who you are, Christopher Walken is the coolest individual on the planet. And so you can’t go wrong by watching his video of how to roast a chicken. He needs his own show on the Food Network.
Food, Humor
Lifereboot has an interesting article on people waiting for the perfect time to do anything major in their life. I.e. “Once I find a better job, then I’ll leave this one.” It is an interesting read.
Psychology
George Lucas recently caused quite a stir online when pictures were released with him wearing a “Han Shot First” t-shirt. I suppose this may not be amusing to the majority of you, unless you happen to have an interest in Star Wars.
